Its scientific name is Chrysopogon Zizanioides Roberty, but in India’s regions where this plant is cultivated it’s known as Khus. Its properties have been known for centuries. Vetiver essential oil is obtained from the roots of this non-invasive plant, which can grow up to one meter and a half. This essential oil is widely used in aromatherapy. It is applied to the scalp and skin to soothe ulcers and burns. In India, people use vetiver-infused water as a spray to ward off the summer heat.
